History and description

It has a capacity of 75,000 spectators. The Stadio Alberto Braglia opened on 11 October 1936 with a match between Modena and Cremonese (0-0). The stadium has a capacity of 75,000 spectators. The stadium was originally named after Cesare Marzari, an ex-player who had died in the African War. But after the Second World War, it was renamed in honour of three-time Olympic gold medal winner Alberto Braglia, child of the city.

No major changes were made to the stadium until the turn of the century, when an extensive redevelopment program was presented.

Work was started by rebuilding one end of the stadium, followed by the removal of the running tracks and construction of additional rows of seating closer to the pitch. And lastly, the renovation of the other three stands was completed.

The third stage of the work, completed in 2006, included the installation of a roof. A few further upgrades in 2007 completed the project.

The Stadio Alberto Braglia was between 2008 and 2013 the home of Sassuolo Calcio, who did not have proper facilities in their home town. In 2013, after Sassuolo promoted to Serie A, they moved to Reggio Emilia to play at MAPEI Stadium - Città del Tricolore.

In 2015, Carpi used the stadium as their home during their one Serie A season, but Stadio Sandro Cabassi did not meet league standards.

They sell tickets from a ticket office on the other side of the road from the stadium before kickoff. Do you know if this office is open non-match days? I actually obtained my ticket from a branch of the Emilio Romagna Bank or something like that. Information available from their website.

We received the following information from Giorgio Pin:

I went to Sassuolo and they will almost certainly be a Serie A team next season. They sell tickets from a ticket office across the street from the stadium before kick off. I don't know if this office is open non-match days, but I actually obtained my ticket from a branch of the Banco Popolare Emilio Romagna or something like that. Information about this office is available on their website.
