History and description

The Arena Corinthians was built in order to serve as a playing venue for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and to provide Corinthians with their own home stadium. The new stadium officially opened on 18 May 2014 with a league match between Corinthians and Figueirense. The stadium had already been used for a partial league match earlier that month with reduced capacity.

The Arena Corinthians stadium has a capacity of 48,000, but for the purpose of the World Cup another 20,000 seats were added on both ends. During the World Cup, the stadium hosted the opening match, three further group matches, the round of 16 match between Argentina and Switzerland (1-0), and the semi-final between Argentina and Netherlands (0-0).

After the World Cup, Corinthians moved to the newly built Arena Corinthians.

Do you know anyone who would be able to help me out?

Eat, drink, and sleep near the Arena Corinthians

Right across Itaquera Metrô station lies a shopping center, which has a food court and a decent number of (fast food) restaurants. Otherwise, most people will prefer to eat and drink in one of the well-off areas west of the city centre. However, there are a few affordable options in the Zona Sul (southwest), such as the Hotel Santa Cruz or the Ramada Plaza. There are no hotels near Arena Corinthians, but there are plenty of other options in São Paulo. Most of the higher end options are found in the west side of downtown, around Avenida Paulista (Jardins), Vila Olimpia or Itaim Bibi areas. The city center can be a little cheaper, but it can get unsafe at night. However, there are a few affordable options in the southwest area, such as Hotel Santa Cruz or Ramada Plaza hotels.

Corinthians Tickets

Tickets for Corinthians games can be bought online, at the arena's ticket office, or at any of the other sales outlets that often sell tickets for soccer games around Sao Paulo, including the Poderoso Timão club stores in Shopping D just north of downtown Sao Paulo, Shopping Tietê Plaza in the north-west of the city, and at Rua Augusta 1948 just off the Avenida Paulista. Ticket prices depend on the opponent, but expect to pay from R$ 104 for an upper tier seat at the West Stand to R$ 228 for a lower tier seat at the East Stand. The stands behind the goals do not tend to go on general sale.

I went to this arena with my boyfriend and it was amazing! The crowd is unique and passionate. I've been to other stadiums before (including Bayern, Real Madrid, and Atletico de Madrid), but this one made me feel like I was part of the game. It's beautiful and exciting!

I went to this arena with my boyfriend and I found it to be very impressive! The crowd is unique in that it's lively and passionate. We had been to other stadiums before (including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Atletico de Madrid, Flamengo, Chelsea), but this one made me feel like I was a part of the game. It was beautiful and mesmerizing!

Everything inside the restaurant is more expensive than in Rio. Burgers cost 17BRL and water costs 5BRL. You can also get ice cream, popcorn, and other foot options at this restaurant. The stadium is nice and the fans are passionate.

I had the opportunity to see Corinthians play Avai at their stadium. The stadium looks really nice both inside and out. It's about a ten-minute walk from the metro station, and the ticket price was 250 Brazilian Reais. Everything inside is more expensive than it is in Rio de Janeiro. Burgers cost 17 Brazilian Reais, water costs 5 Brazilian Reais, cola costs 7 Brazilian Reais, and you also have ice creams, popcorn and all sorts of foot options for purchase. The stadium has passionate fans who provide a great atmosphere.
