History and description

The Bundesstadion Südstadt (Federal Stadium South City) was built between 1965 and 1967 by the predecessor of utilities company EVN. The company wanted to move their home games closer to their premises and offered the land to the city of Vienna. The Bundesstadion Southstadt officially opened on 4 March 1967 with a league match between Admira and Wacker Innsbruck (3-1). The first goal was scored by Willy Kreuz.

The stadium underwent several renovations in the summer of 2008 and at the same time, it changed its name to Trenkwalder-Arena after a naming rights sponsorship deal. The name changed again to BSFZ-Arena in 2012 following a new sponsorship deal.

How to get to the BSFZ-Arena

The BSFZ-Arena is located in the town of Maria Enzersdorf, which is in the south of the Vienna metropolitan area. The distance from central Vienna is about thirteen kilometers. The Badner Bahn commuter rail station Maria Enzersdorf - Südstadt is located near the stadium, and trains run from here at least every 15 minutes. The journey from here takes about 34 minutes, but trains can be much more frequent during rush hour.

Are there any other way to get from Vienna's main railway station (Hbf) to Modling train station? Both commuter rail lines S2 and S4, and regional trains run to Modling. The journey takes 20 to 25 minutes and trains run very frequent. From Modling station it's a 25-minute walk to the stadium.

Address: Johann Steinböckstr. 5B, A-2344 Maria Enzersdorf
