History and description

The stadium was inaugurated on October 26th, 1966 with a Valencia-Barcelona match. Estadi Ciutat de València was built as a replacement for the old Estadio de Vallejo. First plans were made in the late 1950s, but it took over ten years for plans to get approved and construction to start. The stadium was inaugurated on October 26th, 1966 with a Valencia-Barcelona match. The Estadi Ciutat de Valencia opened on 9 September 1969 with a friendly between Levante and Valencia. The visitors won the match.

The stadium that is now known as Estadio Antonio Román was originally called Estadio Antonio Román in honour of the club's president at the time. The stadium had a capacity of 30,000 people back then. In order to strengthen the bond between the club and the city, it was renamed Nou Estadi a few years later.

Few changes were made to the stadium until it underwent a first refurbishment in 2016 which included the replacement of all seats. Plans were then made for a larger renovation which would include the construction of a roof over the stands, the addition of hospitality facilities, and a refurbishment of the insides of the stadium. Construction works on the roof started in 2020.

How to get to Estadi Ciutat de Valencia

The Estadi Ciutat de Valencia is located in the north-east of Valencia, near the historic city center and one kilometer from the main railway station. The walk from Valencia's cathedral to the stadium will take about 30 minutes. Various ways to get to the stadium by public transport are available.

You can take Metro Line 3 (red) to get to the stadium. From, for example, stop Xativa, Colon, or Alameda in the direction of Rafelbunyol, take the metro to stop Machado. The ride will only take 10 minutes and it is a 5-minute walk from the metro to the stadium.

There is an alternative that you should consider. Bus 70 can be taken from Pl. de Ajuntament, Palau de Justicia, or from the former Turia riverbed, and get off at stop Alfahuir - Cercle de Belles Arts. Buses go at least every 20 minutes. Bus 11 can be taken from the same points. Get off at stop Santiago Rusinol.

Tram 1 goes further into the city where more tourist destinations are located.

If you are arriving by car from the Autovia V-21/E15 (north-east), take the Ronda Nord (northern ring road) and follow it until you see the stadium on the left side of the road.

If you are coming into the city from the south or west, follow the signs for Ronda Nord. Once you see the stadium on your right, follow that road until you get to the stadium.

Eat, drink, and sleep near Estadi Ciutat de Valencia

The Estadi Ciutat de Valencia is located in a residential area near the edge of the city. There are few bars or restaurants around, and eating and drinking can therefore better be done in Valencia's historic center or further away at the beaches. If you want to stay as close to the stadium as possible, Hotel Olympia Valencia is a good option. It has good reviews, is reasonably priced, and is only 10 minutes walking from the stadium. Hotel Olympia Universiades is another decent option a little further away, but closer to the centre.

If you are staying in Valencia for an extended period of time, a hotel in the central district will be more convenient.

Levante Tickets

Tickets for Levante matches can be bought at the ticket windows of the stadium. Tickets can be purchased on the gate on the day of the match with Levante rarely selling out.

Ticket prices depend on the opposition, with tickets for matches against lower-level opponents going from $15.00 for a seat behind the goal to $35.00 for a covered seat at the main stand. Expect to pay much more for the top matches.

You can find a seating map here. If you have any questions, email [email protected] for more information.

As the spectator looks at the bowl from the pitch, there is a small group of ultras in the corner to the right of the covered stand. Only alcohol free beer is available in the stadium and there is little in terms of catering. I do not recommend the hot dogs.

We are grateful to have been welcomed into the Levante family. We are excited to cheer on our new team!

I asked her where our seats were and she took us to the VIP lounge and showed us the Stadium and the pitch. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. I am glad we are now Levante supporters.
