dlive.tv
I highly recommend DLive to anyone looking for a unique streaming experience.
I recently discovered DLive and found that it is a very unique streaming platform. My friend posted about the service on Facebook and as a result, I decided to check it out. my first experience with DLive was really great - it was very different from Twitch and much more inviting. One of the best things about DLive was when a global mod, Cheech, jumped in to help with 'Lino Points' - the site's currency. I would definitely recommend DLive to anyone looking for an interesting streaming experience.
If you have never heard of DLive, I would urge you to stick around because today I will be teaching you about this streaming service.
What is DLive?
I tried out DLive, a popular streaming service based on the Lino blockchain. It provides a platform for organizing streaming broadcasts, and what sets it apart from traditional streaming sites such as Twitch and YouTube is its currency and its blockchain model, wherein data is stored and the monetization of content takes place. I found the DLive application to be one of the most refreshing experiences I've had.
The graphics were on point and the whole system functioned perfectly. The network didn't freeze and all the content, including videos and comments along with Lino tokens worked flawlessly. I have to say that the programming architecture of DLive is top-notch and is designed to make streaming easy for users. The tokenization of content is a great way to make money through streaming.
What is Lino Currency or Lino Points?
Lino currency or Lino points denoted by (¢) is an integral part of monetization on the DLive platform. Points are provided not just to the streamers but even viewers. Can you believe it? You can earn points by interacting with the streamers? It?s like actually getting paid for watching videos online. As a viewer, you don?t have to spend any money and you can watch your favorite streamers for free. Everything that matters on this platform is for you to stay active.
Your Lino points generally translate to a cryptocurrency on DLive. However, this cryptocurrency on DLive is worth .22 more than the .1 on Twitch. Once you earn money, you can either cash out your points for more cryptocurrency, get it transferred to PayPal or invest them into the community by donating it to the users. What's astonishing is that you can even invest in DLive's stock by locking your earnings.
What makes DLive great?
After streaming on this platform for nearly a month, I learned a lot about it. The most unique aspect of this streaming platform is that it is run by the people, rather than a billionaire CEO. This site is autonomous in the sense that people such as developers and streamers run it. Thus, there is no huge corporation involved to take a major chunk of your earnings away. As a creator, you are able to keep a higher cut.
Fresh Approach
DLive is a breath of fresh air in the saturated streaming world. It's using blockchain technology to store data and looks really fresh. This is something that will set the standards for years to come and more multinational streaming companies will follow the suit. by the time they enter the market, DLive will have a place of its own in the industry.
Exceptional Monetization
As seen above, monetization is a great way to both content creators and viewers. Everyone who engages on the network will earn something one way or the other with Lino tokens. The Lino tokens are a great way to simplify the monetization process and bring about transparency. For instance, network registration costs one Lino.
User-intuitive app
However, the presence of a responsive website and user-friendly app is not a big deal for DLive. You can download the app on your iOS or Android device and as soon as you register yourself, you can watch broadcasts in real-time.
Rewards & creative setup
To earn rewards, you need to register yourself on the DLive network using your email address and password. You must login to the DLive network using either of your Lino, YouTube, Facebook or Twitch accounts. Once you have done that, you need to come up with a nickname based on Latin alphanumerical characters and verify using a picture.
Design
I am impressed with the unique black and yellow color combination on the network. If you read my reviews, you know that I love black and grey base colors. DLive has a dark grey and black color combination which ticks the right boxes for me.
Header
The header section of the website has three options in the left column - Home, browse, and Get the App. A search bar is towards the right and a login and sign up options are available. If you click on the ellipsis, you get six options in the drop-down menu - About, Community, Help, Contact, Legal and Language.
Hero Section
The video player at the center of the Hero Section has a detailed description of the streaming channel on the right-hand side. There are four horizontal thumbnails that let you access other channels.
Recommended Section
I quickly found the top streaming creators. If you have trouble following their live streams, you can use a magnifying glass to enter user data. Besides that, you can click the "Following" button to access their live streams from favorite creators.
Most popular streamers, especially those with high Lino token holdings, block them so they can become network validators. Such investment guarantees their participation in the management of the platform, where they can help with product development early on. Additionally, major investors can also open their own premium services and have a say in management decisions.
Content
Unlike other major streaming networks, DLive has a wide variety of categories. The eSports section has numerous games such as Counter-Strike, Dota2, World of Warships and Grand Theft Auto to name a few. Aside from games, users can also watch news, music and other broadcasts. The best part is that you don't have to register to watch these broadcasts.
PewDiePie as an integral member
Streaming games is a booming industry, with creators like PewDiePie making millions from their viewers. One popular YouTuber, Felix Kjellberg, streams on DLive and reportedly makes a lot of money from the network. He donates some of his profits back to the community, but he makes more money thanks to his lower revenue share on DLive at 9.9% as compared to YouTube's 45%. This is paving the way for new streamers and viewers to become part of this platform - something that's really important in an age where platforms like YouTube are becoming less popular.
Desktop/Mobile experience
I first started using DLive a few days ago and had a difficult time getting used to the network. However, I quickly became familiar with it and now enjoy streaming most of the time. My initial experience was not the best because of pixelated graphics and low streaming quality. However, recent updates have improved things significantly, and I am expecting 720p at 60fps within a few weeks. The highest quality stream is currently at 480P, which has a lot of room for improvement.
Another problem I had with DLive was the bitrate. I wasn't able to figure out the best one for streaming on DLive. With Twitch, I can easily set it at 4200 and it works perfectly, however, with DLive I was constantly switching it between the 1000-2500 mark. I'm sure that the developers can work towards making this better and more specific.
Plans & Pricing
You can stream DLive.tv either on the website or the app. Both are free to use unless you want to become a member which costs ¢1, which is less than a dollar. You can also use Lino points to invest, donate, or buy stakes in the company.
Suggestions I have for DLive
I love the hard work and dedication of the developers and all those involved in this community. This is a big step forward for an independent future, made by the creators and viewers themselves. One of the few suggestions I have is that the streaming quality be upgraded to 720p. As a content creator, we can afford to tweak our settings but for a viewer, having just 480p quality is not good enough.
Conclusion
Whether you're a creator or a viewer, you absolutely need to check DLive. Sure, it might not seem appealing or capable enough to hook you on your initial experience but it'll surely grow on you. Watch streams, connect with your favorite streamers, and earn money - that has to be the biggest motivation to stream on this network.
