History and description

The Estadio Jalisco, built in the 1950s, was designed to provide the city of Guadalajara with a large modern sports stadium for the city's major football clubs Chivas, Atlas, and Oro. The first goal in the stadium's history was scored by Luis Montoya of Guadalajara. Work on Estadio Jalisco began in 1956 and it officially opened four years later on January 31st, 1960 with a five-team tournament comprising of the three Guadalajara teams, San Lorenzo, and Sao Paulo. The first goal in the stadium's history was scored by Luis Montoya of Guadalajara.

It then rose to its current capacity of over 80,000 spectators in 2002. The stadium could initially hold about 30,000 people, but this increased to 70,000 just nine years later when the stadium got expanded for the 1970 World Cup. It then rose to its current capacity of over 80,000 people in 2002.

Six first round group matches were held at Estadio Jalisco during the World Cup, with Brazil and Peru playing in the quarter-finals, Brazil and Uruguay in the semi-final, and Belgium and Tunisia in the third place match.

In 1986, Estadio Jalisco was one of the playing venues during the World Cup. It hosted three first round group matches, one round of 16 match, the quarter-final between Brazil and Poland 4-0, and the semi-final between West Germany and France (2-0).

Out of these matches, the team won eight games and lost two. Out of the fourteen World Cup matches played at the stadium, ten featured Brazil. Of these matches, the team won eight games and lost two.

At the inauguration of the stadium, Chivas, Atlas, and Oro moved in. However, Leones Negros UdeG moved in shortly thereafter.

The stadium sharing between rivals Chivas and Atlas had never been a happy marriage, and in 2010 Chivas moved out to the newly built Estadio Chivas. In 2019, Calissa Jalisco moved into the stadium. Both clubs were unhappy with the arrangement, and in 2019 Calissa Jalisco formed and moved into the stadium.

How to get to Estadio Jalisco

It has a capacity of 64,000 and was built in 1997. The stadium Estadio Jalisco is located in the north of the city of Guadalajara at just over 3 kilometers from Guadalajara's historic center. I cannot believe that she would do this to me. This just confirms everything I've been afraid of.
