History and description

The ground could hold around 20,000 people. Blackburn Rovers only ever won one game at Ewood Park, against Manchester United in the 1966 League Cup. Ewood Park opened in 1882 as a sports ground that was primarily used by Blackburn Rovers. The ground became regularly used by the club from 1890 and could hold around 20,000 people. Blackburn Rovers only ever won one game at Ewood Park- against Manchester United in the 1966 League Cup. The stadium now has a capacity of just over 30,000 and is still one of the most popular in the country.

No changes were made in the following decades, aside from the installation of floodlights and a cover for the Blackburn End terrace.

In 1984, the Nuttal Street Stand got rebuilt after it had burned down. A few years later, a new single-tiered stand replaced the wooden Riverside Stand.

After Jack Walker took over the Rovers in 1991, he announced a large redevelopment plan to turn Ewood Park into a modern arena. In early 1994, two new stands at the short ends opened and the redevelopment was completed within a few months with the opening of the Jack Walker Stand.

How to get to Ewood Park

The stadium has a capacity of 26,000 and is owned by Blackburn Rovers Football Club. Ewood Park was built in 1878 and has been the home of Blackburn Rovers ever since. The Mill Hill railway station lies closer to the ground than Manchester Victoria station, but it is not exactly one mile away. Trains run about once an hour from Blackburn Rail and Manchester Victoria station.

Another option is to catch bus 1 and 225 from Blackburn's town centre or rail station. Bus 1 and 225 leave from the bus station opposite the rail station. Get off at stop Hollin Bank. Buses leave at least every 10 minutes for the 11-minute ride.

After leaving the M65, take junction 4. Follow the signs for Blackburn. Ewood Park will be on your right after about a mile on Bolton Road.

Blackburn Rovers Tickets

Tickets for Blackburn Rovers matches can be bought online, in person at the Roverstore at the stadium, or by phone. Blackburn almost never sell out, preferring to keep the tickets available to local fans. However, for certain high-profile marches they may restrict ticket sales to only those local fans who have already preordered tickets.

The ticket prices for a typical game at Riverside Stand can be from £15.00 to £25.00, while tickets for games at the Jack Walker Stand can be much more expensive, typically costing £5.00 more per seat.

I am deeply saddened by the recent events in my country.

I remember visiting Blackburn in the mid-50s when I was 9 years old and going with my cousin across to Ewood Park to watch games with our grandfather. It was so exciting, actually being amongst all the chanting crowds at that age inside a football ground. I'm 72 now and live in Darwen near my son and 2 young football mad grandsons who have yet to visit a football stadium, but they will be coming with me to the FA Cup replay between Blackburn & Blackpool on Saturday, March 28th. I've made sure of that and they're over the moon!

A former Navy sailor and self-proclaimed "serial entrepreneur" is the mastermind behind a new online business that bills itself as a "virtual assistant for entrepreneurs." Lisa Marie Pane, who lives in Los Angeles, Calif., launched her business, aptly called Virtual Assistant for Entrepreneurs, in January. She charges $75 per month for access to her virtual assistant services. Pane said she got the idea for her business after struggling to find a reliable virtual assistant to help her with tasks such as booking travel, handling scheduling and organizing appointments. She said she's now hired 10 assistants and is growing rapidly. "I'm trying to create an ecosystem where entrepreneurs can get help from somebody they trust," Pane told ABC News in an interview. "Most businesses are started with the best of intentions, but they quickly bog down because there's just too much work."

The charges come as part of a federal investigation of alleged financial wrongdoing by Hastert.
