As a parent, I am interested in finding the best cartoon streaming site for my children. The best site for my children would ideally be one that is entertaining, educational, and substantive. I do not want my children to just sit in front of the computer and watch trash cartoons!
As a parent, I am always conscious of ways to save money. Studies show that a single child, from birth to age 18, on average, costs over a million dollars. And that?s not even factoring in the costs of college or the trend of kids continuing to live with their parents well past the age of 18 these days. Therefore, if you ask me, every bit of money saved is worth it.
I'm not complaining, I love my kids. Even if they are the reason that I'll never be a millionaire. If you ask me, totally worth it. The joy and pride that my kids make me feel is far more valuable than any amount of money, obviously, but still money is also important. Which is why finding the best free cartoon streaming site is not enough. These days, with money as tight as it is, I need to find the best cartoon streaming site for my kids. I just can't justify adding yet another premium streaming subscription to my ever-growing stack of monthly bills!
Thankfully, we live in the age of digital entertainment. We are living through the streaming revolution, and it is a beautiful time to be alive. There are plenty of options for parents on a budget who want to provide premium streaming content for their kids without having to pay premium streaming prices. In fact, there are so many free cartoon streaming sites to choose from that it can be quite daunting trying to figure out which one to go with.
To make sure your kids are watching age-appropriate content, it's important to vet the streaming sites before letting them watch. I've gathered some of the best free cartoon streaming sites for you, so all you need to do is read my quick reviews to find the perfect one for your family.
There are a variety of factors to consider when choosing a cartoon streaming site for your children. One important factor is the design and layout of the website, as well as the quality of the content. Additionally, each site offers different content for children, so it is important to decide which type of cartoons your child will enjoy. Additionally, some sites offer great mobile apps that make watching cartoons on-the-go easy.
Which brings me to the site that we will be looking at today, Ketnet. For Belgian families, there is a good chance that this is not the first time you are hearing about Ketnet. Before it became one of the best cartoon streaming sites on the web, it was a popular public children?s TV channel owned and operated by Flemish public broadcaster, VRT. Still airing today, Ketnet airs a blend of locally created programs and imported series. If you still watch television the old-fashioned way (no shame there!), you can catch Ketnet on VRT3 between the hours of 6am and 8pm every day.
Ketnet is a children's TV favorite that has been on the air since 1997. It airs classic Ketnet programming along with Ketnet Junior's preschool programming which airs between 10am and 7pm on Canvas. Be sure to let your French friends know about Ouiftivi, the French version of Ketnet, which is available on La Trois.
If you have cut the cord and are relying on Ketnet for your TV viewing, good news! A lot of Ketnet programming can now be streamed on-demand via Ketnet.be. This includes shows that air as well as games and an interactive site that will keep your kids entertained for hours.
Design
Speaking of site design, Ketnet offers a vibrant, lively, and whacky site design that children are sure to find stimulating and fun. The site asserts itself with bright splashes of blues, greens, yellows, and reds, and there are different categories and menus just about everywhere you look. I think that, aesthetically speaking, Ketnet offers one of the best free cartoon streaming site designs on the web.
The site is cluttered and chaotic, and it is likely that you will have to do a lot of browsing to find what your children want to watch. Other free cartoon streaming sites are made so simple and user-friendly that even a child could likely navigate them on their own. I feel like my eye is being led in 100 different directions at one time, as if this site was made for kids with ADD. I think a child could very easily find this to be overwhelming or overstimulating.
Content and Features
There is a lot of content to watch on Ketnet. Although I list it as one of the best free cartoon sites available today, I will be upfront with you - there are not many cartoons to watch here. There are some, sure, but the number of free cartoons streaming on Ketnet is far outweighed by the number of live-action series and YouTube style videos.
This is my biggest complaint with Ketnet - the kind of content that is predominantly featured here. As I said earlier, I prefer to let my kids explore free cartoon streaming sites that are stimulating (not overstimulating), educational, or substantive in some way. However, Ketnet seems overly concerned with providing a sort of kid-friendly version of popular internet culture.
Some of the videos on this site make me question whether or not kids should be watching these kinds of videos. For example, one video called "Decide what Sander should wear during Kingsize Live?" promotes superficial thinking and trivializes important life decisions. I don't think that's a good idea for kids to see. Additionally, some of the videos on this site promote educational content in a fun way; however, other videos seem to focus more on entertainment than learning. This matters to me because I want my children to learn about important things in a fun way.
Ketnet offers a variety of content, including popular shows like Wrap, Karrawiet, Wannabe?s, Hoodie, and Stip It alongside movies and games. Additionally, Ketnet features a documentary series called Ket & Doc as well as series about space, dinosaurs, and professions. I just wanted to make it clear that this type of content is not common on free cartoon streaming sites.
Mobile and Desktop Experience
Unfortunately, Ketnet does not appear to currently have any mobile apps available. Nor does it currently have any smart TV apps, making it far from the best free cartoon streaming site in terms of cross-platform compatibility. That being said, the browser website is optimized for mobile screens, so it does provide mobile access if you are ever in a pinch. Is Ketnet's website design the best? Well, not really - but it gets the job done.
