History and description

Moses Mabhida Stadium was built to be a playing venue for the 2010 World Cup. Since then, it has been used for many exciting events including rugby, cricket and football matches.

Moses Mabhida Stadium hosted five first round group matches, the round of 16 match between the Netherlands and Slovakia, and the semi-final between Spain and Germany.

After the World Cup, the stadium's capacity was reduced from 70,000 to 56,000 by removing the third tier.

The stadium's most distinctive feature is its Y-shaped 106-meter high arch, inspired by the South African flag, which supports the Teflon-coated glass fiber membrane roof.

How to get to Moses Mabhida Stadiume

Moses Mabhida Stadium is located near the north of the city of Durban, almost at the coast of the Indian Ocean. It is about 3 kilometers from Durban?s central business district and a little less from Durban?s central railway station. Coming from the south, follow the M4 to the Masabalala Yengwa Avenue. As you reach the stadium turn left and continue until you reach the stadium. The stadium is situated close to the M4 motorway, which runs along the coast. If coming from the north, leave the M4 at the Blue Lagoon turn off, turn right under the bridge, and shortly after left onto Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (NMR). Continue until you reach the stadium. Coming from the south, follow M4 to Masabalala Yengwa Avenue. As you reach stadium turn left and continue until you reach stadiums.

The stadium can be seen from most parts of the city. Masabalala Yengwa Avenue, which runs through the central business district, leads to the stadium. The stadium is visible from most parts of the city.

If using public transport, the stadium can be reached with the Metrorail trains that run from Durban central railway station. Take a train on either the North Coast Line or KwaMashu Line. Get off at the next stop Moses Mahbida. Trains run rather infrequently.

If you're looking for an alternative to taking the Orange Line to the Suncoast Casino, then take a People Mover bus. The Northern Line takes you there in about 5-10 minutes.

Amazulu Tickets

Tickets for Amazulu FC matches can be bought online, at the Computicket sales outlets or at the Shoprite and Checkers stores. Tickets are not always available at the stadium on the day of the match, and it would be advisable to buy in advance.

Tickets typically go for a flat price of $40.00 for all stands, though at times can be slightly higher for some stands at high-profile matches.

The Amazulu often play their matches at Moses Mabhida Stadium, but at times they may move to a smaller venue.
