HBF Park: All you need to know - Tickets, Direction, Weather (2022)

The oval's first use as a football ground was in 1911 when the Perth Football Club played a practice match against the Subiaco Football Club. The park was initially home to the Perth Football Club, which played its first ever match there on Easter Saturday 1911, making it one of Australia's oldest football grounds. It later became known as Perth Oval, after the nearby suburb of Perth was incorporated into the City of Perth in 1929. The oval has been used for a variety of sports, including soccer, and is now primarily used for cricket.

History and description

The Australian football ground, known as Perth Oval, was built in 1910 to serve as the national stadium for Australian football. Soccer had been played at the site, that was known as Loton's Paddock, before. The stadium was originally oval-shaped, but it later underwent a renovation that added a new grandstand.

In 1995, Perth Glory was created and played its games at Perth Oval. However, the oval shape of the stadium was not suited for soccer and caused many problems. In 1999, East Perth moved out and plans were made to redevelop the stadium to a rectangular shape. Works started in 2003 and were completed one year later.

The Perth Oval has had various sponsors names, including Members Equity Stadium, ME Bank Stadium, nib Stadium, and finally since 2019 HBF Park.

How to get to HBF Park

The HBF Park is located north of Perth's Central Business District. It is about a kilometer away from Perth railway station. The stadium can easily be walked from most central destinations in and around Perth?s CBD. The walk will take from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the distance travelled.

The stadium can easily be walked to from Perth Station, but Claisebrook station is closer and has a few minutes' walk away. Claisebrook is on the Midland and Armadale & Thornlie commuter rail lines, which connect the CBD with the western and south-western suburbs. Trains run very frequently. East Perth Station and McIver Station are also at close walking distance of nib Stadium.

The bus from the CBD will take you to Lord Street. You can then take bus 41, 42, or 48 to your desired destination.

Address: 310 Pier Street Perth WA 6000
