History and description

The stadium was completed in 2007 and has a capacity of 18,000. Subaru Park, formerly known as PPL Park and Talen Energy Stadium, is a soccer-specific stadium built for Major League Soccer expansion team Philadelphia Union. The stadium was completed in 2007 and has a capacity of 18,000. Construction of the stadium started in late 2008 and was completed in the summer of 2010. The stadium was used for the first time on 27 June 2010 between Philadelphia Union and Seattle Sounders (3-1).

While it was expected to be a catalyst for revitalizing the Chester waterfront area, little of this came to fruition in the years following.

No concrete plans exist at the present moment to expand the stadium to a capacity of more than 20,000 seats. Efforts are being made to explore the feasibility of constructing a new stadium in downtown Philadelphia following the wave of new MLS stadiums, but no final decisions have been made.

In 2015, the stadium name changed from PPL Park to Talen Energy Stadium, and in 2020 it will be renamed Subaru Park following naming rights sponsorship deals.

How to get to Subaru Park

It is a popular destination for both tourists and Chester residents. Subaru Park is home to a wide variety of facilities, including a baseball field, soccer field, basketball court, and tennis courts. Subaru Park is located in Chester, about 15 miles south-east from downtown Philadelphia and 2 miles east from downtown Chester. It is a very popular destination for both tourists and Chester residents. Subaru Park has a wide variety of facilities, including a baseball field, soccer field, basketball court, and tennis courts. You will see a large parking lot with a sign that reads "Delaware River Stadium." The stadium is located on the waterfront of the Delaware River next to the Commodore Barry Bridge. It can be easily reached from I-95, which connects Philadelphia with Baltimore. Take exit 4 and head towards the 322 East/Commodore Bay Bridge. Next take the exit for Chester Waterfront and you will see a large parking lot with a sign that reads "Delaware River Stadium."

The club operates a shuttle service that transports people from SEPTA's regional train station at Chester T.C. to the stadium. You can take trains to Wilmington or Newark from 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, and the shuttles run from 4 hours before the match and after the match until everybody has left.

Philadelphia Union Tickets

Tickets for Philadelphia Union games can be bought online. The price of tickets to sporting events can vary depending on the opposition, with prices typically ranging from $33.00 for a seat behind the goal to $68.00 for a central seat at the main stand.

Tickets are usually easily available for most matches, but it is still advised to book in advance for the odd sell-out.

You can find a seating plan here.

Useful Internet links

The Philadelphia Union website is the official website of the Philadelphia Union. The website offers information on the club, including news, player profiles, and videos. The visitor site for Philadelphia is called Visit Philly. This site provides access to information on attractions, restaurants, and more in Greater Philadelphia. Public transport resources for the area can be found at Septa.org. Overall, I had a decent MLS experience. The stadium is far from the city, which is a bit of a shame. However, there are often lots of pre-match activities for kids and adults outside of the stadium. The beer selection was decent, but food was average and overpriced.

The West River/Bridge views from the stands are beautiful, however there are hardly any sell-outs, which needs to be updated in the description. Parking here is atrocious and I would recommend parking at the Church lots across the street from the Stadium, it's cheaper and doesn't take 30+ minutes post-match to get out. The attendants are always super friendly.

Overall, my MLS experience was good. I found that the stadium is a bit far from the city and in a bad part of town, but there are typically lots of pre-match activities for kids and adults outside of it. The beer selection is decent, albeit a bit expensive, and the food is average.
