Anime is now a billion-dollar industry with a long history of success. It has become well-known for its distinctive story-telling, mind-blowing plots, and amazing character development. Anime, as an art form, is quite powerful. Once it captures you, you'll be bound to the fantasy world. Over the years, series such as One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, Naruto, and Death Note have amassed a global fanbase. These series have been such a blockbuster among audiences that major studios are spending millions trying to recreate the original piece. If you're an anime lover, you know how wholesome the anime community is. And for this particular review we're going to talk about the world's biggest anime community on Reddit.

My recent experience on r/anime

I have been subscribed to this subreddit for a long time, not because it is very active but because of the creativity on this page. Recently, I had an amazing experience on this subreddit. It was a fanart by Canned_Mann, wherein the user used Za Hanndoo to erase the paper that was drawn on. For real, that's the wackiest thing I saw today. It was super cool. Within 23 hours, the post received nearly 10,000 upvotes and I just couldn't help but share this post on other social networks.

About r/anime - Community & Members

Reddit?s premier anime community is described as impressive with 1.5 million members. Out of these members, 7-10k members are active at any given time. It's great to see the hard work pay off as this subreddit was created more than 12 years ago on Jan 25, 2008. Today, you'll find the latest, most creative, and engaging posts on this platform. From fan art to spoilers and rumor mill you'll find everything on this platform.

How to access r/anime?

If you're not a Reddit user yet, you can sign up for an account by typing "r/anime" into your browser's search bar and following the subreddit links. Once you have an account, you can subscribe to subreddits, comment on posts, and even post your own content on any of them.

Moderators of r/anime

As the biggest subreddit for anime, r/anime requires more than one person to manage it. There are nearly a dozen moderators who work together to make sure that the content on the page is compliant with Reddit's rules. A group of ten moderators manage and oversee the activities of over 1.5 million people on the website. They ensure that all posts are appropriate, enforce rules and regulations, moderate discussions, and keep the site running smoothly.

Why should you follow r/anime?

Each day, you'll find a wealth of new posts updating on the latest happenings in the anime community. You'll find dozens of amazing fan artworks, spoilers, alternate story plots, trailers, teasers, and post-episode thoughts here. The most popular post on any given day receives between 15,000-25,000 upvotes within 24 hours. Apart from the heartfelt creative content and opinions, you'll also find hard news related to any major anime studios, shows, or stars. For example, as of this writing there's a lot of attention surrounding Studio 1's building demolition.

Community Engagement

Here is why I love r/anime - it is an extremely active community and this is why I love it so much. If you are an anime fan, you would not wish for more than having a dozen of anime buddies with whom you can share your thoughts. In this case, there are more than a million. If you were to combine upvotes from every single post, it would easily surpass the 500,000 mark. The top post on the thread generally has many comments. This is because r/anime has a loyal fanbase and also participates in various other megathreads, such as "Merch Mondays," "Recommended Tuesdays," "Thursday Animal Discussion Threads," "Casual Discussion Fridays," and "Monthly Meta Threads."

Browsing & Navigation

I browse and navigate this subreddit for 10-15 minutes each day, finding something new to check every time. Based on my experience on this subreddit, I can vouch for the quality of the browsing and navigation experience on this page. There are no discrepancies at all. Even with an unstable internet connection, you'll be able to load a lot of pages. The well-sorted content on this subreddit makes it easier for users to find what's popular.

Reddit Gold

On average, the top post on r/anime can receive anywhere from 1-2 golds. However, given the size of just 1 million, it's far more impressive as compared to r/Videos' 3-4 golds. However, you have to say that this community doesn't give away gold as freely as r/askreddit or r/prorevenge. You have to post something original and outstanding to stand apart from the crowd and if your post is good enough, you might get lucky.

Spoiler Source

Many subreddits have rules about posting spoilers for TV shows and movies. For example, on this page, you need to find the spoiler before you post it as a title. Spoilers can't be added to the submission title. If you're linking external images or articles, your post should have a [Spoiler] flair along with the name of the show. If you violate these rules more than once, you might be banned from the page.

Filter by flair

This is a great way to find new and interesting content quickly. I love how the filter by flair option on this page lets me sort the posts based on my preferences. For example, I can see posts about announcements, official media, news, clips, episodes, rewatchings, writing, videos, and discussions. This way I can easily find what I'm looking for without having to wade through all of the other posts.

Design

to their left. The ?Megathreads? option has a list of all the current megathreads on the subreddit, while the ?Wiki? option displays a guide to creating and editing content on r/Anime. If you land on this page, you see an iconic r/Anime peace sign with no abstract backgrounds or cover photos. Instead, it's straightforward and simple. Towards the right is the join button; under the subreddit name, there are six options- Posts?, Old Reddit?, Rules?, Megathreads?, Wiki?, and A Guide to r/Anime. Out of these options, Megathreads and Wiki have drop-down menus to their left. The Megathreads option has a list of all currently active megathreads on the subreddit, while the Wiki option contains a guide to creating and editing content on r/Anime. Overall, the site is easy to use and navigate. Under these options, you have the "Create Post" section which is followed by sorting options- "Hot", "New", "Top", and "Hide/Report". Towards the right, you will find information related to the community followed by "Filter by flair" options. There are a couple of ads here and there, but they don't disrupt your browsing experience as they are placed on the sidebar. Overall, the site is easy to use and navigates easily.

Conclusion

As an anime lover, I absolutely admire this subreddit. I've been following this page for over five years now and it seems to grow more beautiful every year. The amount of creativity on this page is truly next to none. With all those mashup videos, theme songs, and fantasy artworks, this is one subreddit that you'll be a part of for a long time.
