No one could have predicted that the gaming niche would have its own independent music space. Over fifty years ago, the music in video games had a different paradigm. They used more simple technology and didn't have the same output channels as today. However, because of the amazing progress in technology, there has been a complete shift in this area over the past fifty years - attributable to an increase in the number of output channels, improvements in sound quality, and the rise of DAWs.
In general, I believe that digital audio workstations can be an excellent tool for improving your productivity and creativity.
Digital audio workstations (DAWs) have completely turned the music industry on its head. You don't have to be a gamer to enjoy these tracks- there are plenty of amazing tracks that are just as good, if not better than iconic movie scores. One of my favorite tracks of all time is "Legends Never Die" from League of Legends 2017. I am growing fascinated with OSTs and licensed gaming music and as a keen reader of articles on human behavior, I've learned a lot about the role of music in games. Based upon my research and the journals I referred to, music does have a great impact in games, both positively and negatively. In general, I believe that DAWs can be an excellent tool for improving your productivity and creativity.

Why should you follow r/gamemusic?
There is no lack of quality content on r/gamemusic. There are original scores, remixes and covers, Ost, playlists and various news posts on this subreddit. More than 100 posts are updated each day, with budding and experienced composers sharing great music on this platform. The creativity of the members of this community is underappreciated, mainly due to the lack of interaction. On average the top post of the day manages to surpass 50 upvotes. As for content variety, you'll find reviews, remixes, covers, OSTs, playlists, announcements and news posts on r/gamemusic. Even if you're slightly interested in gaming music, this subreddit will keep you hooked.
Community Engagement
Many people feel that r/gamemusic does not possess the best content when compared to other music subreddits. Despite this, the frequency of posts is excellent and many people interact with each post. The engagement rate - upvotes and comments - is not great, however the likes of r/anime and r/movies receive better user interaction. The average comment ratio on each post is lower than 2-5.
Browsing & Playback
A benefit of being a part of a small community such as r/gamemusic is that the browsing experience is usually great. Most of the scores that are shared on the platform are from YouTube, and thus you don't have to worry about playback issues. I streamed on this platform for nearly an hour, and I spent 80 MB listening to music tracks on this subreddit. If you have limited data, I would advise not to stream this sub using your internet connection.
Dedicated Rooms
I really enjoy the chat rooms on r/gamemusic â there are five different ones (General Chat, VGM: OST & Remix, Gaming, Any Music, and Advertise) with more than 100 members each. Based on which room you join, you can be sure that this subreddit is tailored to a larger audience with a preference for producers sharing their music. Joining a certain room will give you access to the most opportunities. Before I share any points about each room, I want to mention one important thing: there is no right or wrong way to join and participate in the chats!
1. I am removing self-advertising from this room in order to create a more welcoming space for all. Please use the other rooms for discussions. 517 Members

Release and Upcoming Albums
The website has an impressive section on "Released and upcoming albums." As a game developer, this can be very useful to you. Under this section, you'll find recent releases such as Pixel Mixers - Donkey Kong Country Album, Overclocked Remix - Arcadia Legends, and Multiplayer 4:Rescue. New music is updated each week, and it's incredible for developers looking for a copyright-free sound.
Filter by flair
I love the filter by flair section on this sub. There are seven options - Discussion?, Original?, Remix/Cover?, OST?, Playlist?, Announcement?, and News?. Each of these options is self-explanatory, and when you're posting any content, you have to tag it using the flair. So, if you're sharing a Remixed track, make sure to post the link and add the ?Remix/Cover? flair. This allows the interested audience to engage with the post.
