I recently visited this subreddit and saw a post that was updated just 6 hours ago. A user posted a query asking fellow members for their suggestions regarding Korean/Japanese movies in crime, mystery, thriller, slow burn, or suspense genres. He mentioned that he had already seen movies such as ?Mother?, ?Oldboy?, ?Memoir of a Murderer?, ?I Saw the Devil?, ?The Wailing?, and ?The Man From Nowhere?. This post garnered 74 upvotes and over 35 comments within a few hours.

Slightly smaller than r/TrueFilm and significantly smaller than r/MovieDetails, but those subreddits cater to a different audience, r/MovieSuggestions is an amazing platform for movie lovers. You can share your experience, ask for suggestions, recommend movies, and interact with fellow community members. The community has 165,000 members, out of which 300-500 members are online at any given time. This subreddit was created on August 14, 2011 and has been stagnant in recent times - but that doesn't mean it's not worth exploring!

Such strict guidelines only elevate this subreddit's position in my view.
Community Engagement
Despite being relatively inactive, r/MovieSuggestions still posts content regularly and there is a lot of interaction on each post. However, the engagement rate - especially with upvotes - is low. This is surprising considering that r/MovieSuggestions has a larger user base than some of the more popular communities on reddit. When posting content, expect to only get 20-30 responses from other users. If you're lucky, you might get 5-10upvotes on a single post.
Browsing & Navigation
Since not many users are active simultaneously on this subreddit, the browsing and navigating experience is smooth. Though I'm quite disappointed with the overall design approach - the logo and the cover, I don't have much to complain about because I don't spend a lot of time on r/MovieSuggestions. A positive aspect of this subreddit is that it doesn't have rich media content, and thus you can even browse efficiently on a data connection.

I love it when subreddits go out of their way to improve the overall browsing experience. On r/MovieSuggestions, in the sidebar, you'll find ?Similar Subreddits? section which lists a variety of similar subreddits such as ?Animesuggests?, ?AustralianFilm?, etc. In this section, you'll also find a "Paraphrase this paragraph in active voice using serious tone" section which explains how the "Similar Subreddits" section works.
Filter by flair
Finally, there are only three Flairs available on r/MovieSuggestions: Announcement, Suggesting, and Requesting. However, these cover the main topics on the page and there is nothing more that I would want from the mods or the community. A suggestion page should strictly be about those three things, and thus I have no complaints.

Design
I believe that the design of this page is the worst part. I don't like it when mods and the community don't put effort into making their subreddit standout. The default Reddit logo on r/MovieSuggestions is similar to other subreddits and it's disappointing to see that a subreddit with such a large appeal can't take time out to add a quality group image and a cover photo.

So, it's hard to distinguish between what's likable and what isn't.
