Real Betis Balompie Seville

From its green and white colors to its "sevillano" name, Real Betis Balompié has become a symbol of Andalusian culture. The football club was born from the desire of the residents of this region to have their own team after Sevilla FC had taken over all other Madrid teams in the 1920s. At that time they played as a single team in the city and had several subsidiaries under different names such as Athletic Club De Spain or Español Deportivo (Spanish Football Federation). The 55,000-seat Estadio Benito Villamarín is owned by Betis and is located in the Heliópolis district south of Madrid. In their coat of arms you will find two big letters - these stand for Balompié, which translates to "soccer" or futbol in Spanish! The term 'derbi' means 'derby', so it's not surprising that Real Betis have an intense rivalry with Sevilla FC, who are also considered arch-rivals, with each club showing pride when the two sides regularly play matches meet."
