History and Description

The stadium has been home to UCLA Bruins football, USC Trojans football, and the now-defunct Notre Dame Fighting Irish football teams. The stadium initially had the shape of a horseshoe and could hold 56,000 spectators. However, it became a proper bowl a few years later in 1928 when the south stand got added. In the following two decades, extensions raised capacity to over 100,000 spectators.

Several smaller renovations were completed over the years, but the overall shape of the stadium has not changed.

The 1994 Rose Bowl was the final match of the 1994 World Cup, which was hosted by Brazil and Italy. The match ended in a 0-0 draw.

Between 1996 and 2002, the Rose Bowl was the home of Los Angeles Galaxy. They then moved to Dignity Health Sports Park.

The stadium has been used for multiple events including the Super Bowl, CONCACAF Gold Cup finals, the 1999 Women's World Cup final, and UCLA Bruins football games.

The Rose Bowl has been selected as one of the twenty six playing venues for the 2026 World Cup.
