History and description

The stadium has a seating capacity of 48,000 people. As part of preparations for the 2002 World Cup, Seoul World Cup Stadium was built between 1998 and 2001. It officially opened on 10 November 2001 with a game between South Korea and Brazil. The stadium has a seating capacity of 48,000 people. The stadium hosted the opening match between France and Senegal, another group match, and the semi-final between Germany and South Korea.

Two years after the World Cup, the stadium found a permanent occupant when in 2004 FC Seoul moved back to Seoul.

The amazing Seoul World Cup Stadium has a roof that is shaped like a traditional Korean kite, and which covers almost all of the seats. The stadium has a total of 806 VIP seats and 75 sky box seats.

How to get to Seoul World Cup Stadium

The Seoul World Cup Stadium is located in the west of the city of Seoul, on the north bank of the Han River. It is part of a complex which include parks and amusement rides, and it houses a large cinema and discount shopping centre. Metro station World Cup Stadium is located near the stadium. The station is on line 6, which runs south of the center of Seoul, but can be reached with a transfer via line 4 (from Seoul Station) or line 2 (from City Hall).

FC Seoul Tickets

Tickets for FC Seoul games can be bought online, by phone, or in person at the stadium. Tickets can be purchased at the gates of the stadium on the day of the match. FC Seoul rarely sells out, so tickets may be available at the gate on the day of the match.

A ticket for the main stand costs KRW20,000, a ticket for the opposite side costs KRW15,000, and a seat behind the goal costs KRW12,000.
