It?s a great app to use if you?re looking for a great mobile experience.
Many legitimate streaming services offer apps for Android and iOS users as ways of enhancing the mobile streaming experience. That's why they roll out apps for these platforms - because website streaming can never reach the potential of an APK or an official app when it comes to mobile streaming. That's because the developers design the interface and gear the device to work seamlessly on your mobile device. When it comes to apps, there's one called Crackle that I'm sure you've heard of. It's a great app to use if you're looking for a great mobile experience.
What is Crackle?
Sony's Crackle app is one of the few that allows you to stream content for free. Once you download the app, you can watch movies, television shows, and other content available on the platform. There are commercials before most of the videos, but given that all of the content is free without any premium fee, it's worth tolerating these commercials.
Crackle also offers a selection of curated content that can be added to your Watch list.
If you're comfortable using Netflix or HBO Go on your mobile device, you'll see familiarity in Crackle's user interface. The simple design, coupled with intuitive menus, make browsing and streaming more fun. Upon entering the app, you'll land on the home screen, which features the featured content. There are several navigation buttons which help you browse categories such as Movies, Shows, and Watch list. The thumbnail view is inspired by the website, but you have the option to switch to a basic list view. Crackle also offers a selection of curated content that can be added to your Watch list.
Crackle is a free app that has a wide range of quality content, but it's not the place you should go for the latest blockbusters. You'll find more legendary programs such as Seinfeld, Sanford and Son, and The Three Stooges on Crackle. Other than these shows, you can find recent movies such as The Walking Dead, Homeland, and Dexter.
What should you expect from the Crackle App?
Crackle App has a lot of content. As shown above, you can enjoy some top shows on the platform. These movies and shows aren't just classic content. The only problem I have with the app is that you can't binge-watch the latest shows. There are only a few episodes from each season available on the platform. Thus, it's not extensive and complete as you might think. And that, in my opinion, is a major drawback.
Intuitive Design
Sony's Crackle app is an excellent example of a premium design that doesn't have to cost extra. The dark design, well-laid-out menus and navigation buttons, and clean interface make it easy for users to browse seamlessly. You'd love streaming on this platform!
Quality Streaming
Apart from that, however, Crackle is an excellent service.
The Crackle streaming service is great! It is one of the best free legit streaming services available and its stable stream is a major bonus. The only downside is that most of the content isn't HD resolution. However, even at SD quality, Crackle offers a lot of great content. There are only a few downsides to the service overall. First, it would be nice if more of the content was in HD resolution. Second, though overall it's an excellent service, there are a few minor flaws that could be improved upon. Overall though, Crackle is a great choice for streaming content
On-Demand Content
Crackle is home to a star-studded lineup of movies and TV shows. This platform's impressive on-demand content prowess is staggering. Its library features recognizable programming, including TV series and certain movies. The content on the platform is always updated based on the agreement with content producers. So stay tuned, because we'll be sharing Crackle's content line-up with you!
Crackle App Information
Crackle is constantly updated, so you can expect new content and an improved interface every three months. Android users can also stream Crackle on the app if they have the latest version of Android, which is KitKat or above. It's great to see an app supporting a system that's seven years old, and its support, streaming quality, and interface have made it one of the most popular apps on the market.
How to access Crackle?
To access Crackle, you need to download the app for your mobile device. It is available on both Android and iOS platforms. In order to stream the content, you will need to follow the instructions below.
Create a Crackle Account
By signing up for the platform, you'll be able to access two key features, such as Watch Later and Continue Watching. Using Watch Later might be an ordinary feature, but using ?Continue Watching? is definitely something from the premium vault. This feature allows you to stream content from where you left off.
Design
The Crackle app boasts a clean and sleek design. The interface is simple, with a no-nonsense approach. You click on a title, you'll have to watch a short advertisement and then you can start streaming on the platform.
Many interesting facts are present on the website, such as synopsis, ratings, and cast details. You can read the content before you start to watch it so that you can decide whether you're in the mood to watch it or not.
If you're looking for specific content on the app, you can use the custom search function. The content is divided nicely into sections based on genre, with Spotlight, Academy, and Comedy sections as well as a Thriller section.
Rather than a list of content, you see video previews above each title.
On Crackle, the UI/UX is designed to be tailored to the platform. There is a large difference between what you see on a desktop vs mobile device. On a desktop, the menu is more like a TV show menu with content arranged alphabetically. On the app however, the layout is much more compact and instead of a list of content, you see previews for each video above the title.
Content
This platform has a vast array of movies and TV shows that you can choose from. Some of my favorite categories are Popular On-Demand Movies, On-Demand Shows, and Originals.
Movies
You can find many classic titles such as A Few Good Men, starring Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise. Other than that, you'll find Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell's The Other Guys. Some popular on-demand content that you can find on the platform includes Seven Years in Tibet, 3:10 to Yuma, Friday the 13th series, Rules of Engagement, The Longest Yard, Zodiac, The Karate Kid Series, and Zero Dark Thirty.
TV Shows
Despite the impressive movie lineup on the app, I do not think the same can be said for TV shows. Why? Because there is a lack of continuity and it is not quite extensive. Nonetheless, you can still watch some of the coolest and most popular shows such as ?Seinfeld,? ?Sanford,? ?Bewitched,? ?All in the Family,? ?The Ellen Show,? ?Charlie?s Angels,? ?Marvel Animated Series,? ?T.J. Hooker?, ?Just Shoot Me!?, and ?The Dana Carvey Show.?
Kids
If you want to use Crackle for your entertainment, it is not the best option out there. It only has a handful of kid-friendly series, but the volume certainly isn't enough to keep you entertained for long. Some popular kids content on the app includes "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," "Muppets in Space," "Stuart Little," "Jack and the Beanstalk," and "The Smurfs."
Original Content
There is no denying that every major studio wants the whole pie. And that's why they are heavily investing in original content. While Netflix and Prime Video are leaps and bounds ahead of Crackle on this one, Crackle does have a few quality originals under their belt. These include 16 original TV shows and 11 original films. Among these titles, some of the most recognizable titles are SuperMansion, Ski Master Academy, The Art of More, and Throwaways.
Desktop/Mobile experience
Despite the fact that Crackle doesn't have a large content library, it makes up for it by providing an easy-to-use platform. I streamed Crackle on my Google Pixel 4 and found the streams to be smooth and without any major discrepancies. However, ads are present throughout each streaming session, which I find to be quite annoying.
Suggestions I have for Crackle
Crackle, a platform, is in the middle of nowhere. While it is free, it doesn't have enough content or amazing streaming capabilities. On the other hand, the platform is bombarded with ads that are quite annoying for any user.
Conclusion
Don't choose Crackle as your cord-cutting alternative--this is just a fun, interesting addition to your premium streaming apps that can help you when you're bored.
