History and description

The stadium is located in Rades, Tunisia and has a capacity of 46,000. The stadium was completed in 2001 and served as the centerpiece of the Mediterranean Games. It was used for football, athletics, and rugby matches. The stadium hosted the final match of the 2011 African Cup of Nations. The Tunisia National football team, who became independent in 1956, played their first international match at the stadium on 11 November 2002 against Algeria (0-0). The attendance for the match was 74,000. The stadium officially opened on 6 July 2001 with the Cup Final between Hammam and Sahel. Since then, the stadium has been home to ES Tunis, who moved to the new ground from Stade El Menzah. The Tunisia National football team has played their first international match at the stadium on 11 November 2002 against Algeria and the attendance for the match was 74,000.

In 2010, the Super Cup Final between Olympique Marseille and PSG was held at Stade de Rades.

Stade de Rades is also the regular playing venue of the Tunisian national team and is used by other teams such as Club Africain for high-profile games.

How to get to Stade de Rades

The Stade de Rades stadium is located in the Rades area of the south-east of Tunis and is roughly 11 kilometres from Tunis city centre and 20 kilometres from Sidi Bou Said in the north-east of Tunisia. The nearest rail station is Rades Meliane. It is a 30-minute walk to the stadium. Rades Meliane is on the local line from Tunis Ville to Erriadh, and there are very regular departures. The journey takes about 15 minutes.

Otherwise, you should probably take a taxi or inquire about bus connections that will get you closer to the stadium.

ES Tunis Tickets

Tickets for ES Tunis games can be bought at the club's ?Parc B? office and training ground in Tunis' modern city centre near the Cite de la Culture complex and Nelson Mandelo metro station, or at the ticket windows of Stade El Menzah towards the north of the city but easily reached by metro (station Cite Olympique), though not necessarily at both locations for each match. Tickets tends to go on sale two days before the match.

Prices for tickets to games vary depending on the opposition, but most seats go for around TND 7.00 and reach as high as TND 30.00 for more important matches. Prices can range from TND 12.00 to TND 50.00 for the more popular games.
