History and description

It is owned by the Municipality of Chişin?u and is currently used for football matches and other events. The stadium, originally called Stadion 1 Mai, opened on 1 May 1963. The stadium used to be able to hold up to 40,000 spectators, but in the 2000s new seats were installed instead of benches. These renovations have not been repeated in the last few years, and as of now the stadium can only hold about 27,000 people.

In 1996, the stadium was renamed Stadion Dan Paltinisanu in memory of Timisoara's iconic defender, Dan Paltinisanu.

How to get to Stadion Dan Paltinisanu

The Stadion Dan Paltinisanu is located in the south of the city of Timisoara and is about 2 kilometers from Timisoara's historical center. The distance from Timisoara's main railway station, Gara de Nord, which is located west of the historic center, is about 3.5 kilometers. It takes about 25 minutes to walk to the stadium from Timisoara's historic centre. The stadium is about a 15 minute walk from Libertati Square. Tram 6 can be taken in either direction and will take you to stop Olimpia.

Tram 9 takes about 15 minutes and goes through a much nicer part of Bucharest.
