History and description

The MDCC-Arena is the largest stadium in the state of Saxony. The new MDCC-Arena was built to provide Magdeburg with a modern home, replacing the old Ernst-Grube Stadion which had stood at the same site. The MDCC-Arena is the largest stadium in Saxony. The construction of the new stadium started in 2005 and the new Stadion Magdeburg officially opened on December 10, 2006. The first match was played 9 days later when Magdeburg hosted Eintracht Braunschweig in a friendly (0-0).

In 2009, the Stadion Magdeburg changed its name to MDCC-Arena following a naming rights sponsorship deal with local telecommunications firm MDCC.

How to get to the MDCC-Arena

The MDCC-Arena is located east of Magdeburg on the eastern bank of the river Elbe. It is roughly 2.5 kilometres from the city center and 3 kilometres from the main railway station. It is an approximate half an hour walk from the city centre. It takes about 10 minutes longer to walk from the railway station.

Alternatively, the stadium can be reached with tram line 6. Take the tram from the main railway station or city centre in the direction of Herrenkrug. Get off at stop Berliner Chaussee / Arenen and walk to the stadium. It is a short journey of less than 10 minutes.

Are tickets for Magdeburg games available online, by phone +49 (0) 391 5999 700, or at any of the authorized sales outlets? Yes, tickets are available at all of these locations. Tickets can also be bought on the day at the ticket windows of the stadium. Magdeburg's attendances are amongst the highest of Liga 3, but tickets will be available for most matches.

The ticket prices range from $14.50 from a seat behind the goal to $32.00 for a central seat at the long side. Standing costs $13.50.
