History and description

It is located in Warsaw, Poland. The PGE Narodowy, also known as the Warsaw National Stadium and Stadion Narodowy w Warszawie, is Poland's new national stadium. It is located in Warsaw. Poland's plans to build a new national stadium were accelerated when they were granted the right to host the Euro 2012 Championships. The new stadium, Stadion Narodowy, replaced Warsaw's previous national stadium, Stadion Dziesi?ciolecia.

The construction of the stadium started in October 2008 and was completed in November 2011. During the building works, three workers lost their lives in two separate accidents.

The stadium, officially opened on January 29th with a rock concert. The first match that was planned to take place at the stadium was between Wisla Krakow and Legia Warsaw, but due to delays in the works and safety concerns, the match had to be cancelled. However, a friendly between the Polish and Portuguese national teams took place on February 29th as the stadium's first official match.

The Stadion Narodowy hosted the opening match of the Euro 2012 finals between Poland and Greece on June 12, as well as two further group matches, a quarter-final, and the semi-final between Italy and Germany.

In 2015, the stadium hosted the Europa League final between Sevilla and Dnipro (3-2). The stadium was renamed to PGE Narodowy following a naming rights deal.

The most characteristic features of the stadium are the colors of the national flag painted on its facade and the roof that can be opened and closed in 20 minutes. Additionally, there is a video board in the center of the stadium.
