subsonic.org
Music server software like Subsonic often allows you to control the server. You might say that Pandora and Spotify offer the same thing? Don't they? No, they just offer you music, but not the control over your music server. With a music server, you'll be able to download music locally, store it, access it, and share it at any given time.
Personally, I don't think your personal collection would compare well to Spotify's.While they do have a large selection of music, some things are missing including movie soundtracks and classic mixtapes. I'm not trying to bash Spotify or modern music networks, it's just that they don't have everything that you would expect.
What is Subsonic?

Customization options
The biggest strength of this media server is that it is available in many different languages and has a highly configurable user interface. This allows you to add your personal avatar, chat using the media server, find automatic album lists, and even browse the content by genres.
Flexible media streamer
Subsonic allows you to stream music directly from your phone. As it supports more than 25 apps, there is no need to worry about compatibility. There is no restriction on the number of users or the simultaneous plays. You can share your content on social networking sites such as Facebook, Google+, and Twitter. Your server can be personalized and thus you can access it by using your name.subsonic.org address. If you are an app developer, you can also make use of the REST API.
Integrated web services
As mentioned earlier, the best feature of Subsonic is that it can automatically register what you're playing on last.fm. You can access covert art and lyrics using Chartlyrics and Google. You'll find artist images, biography, and similar artists from Last.fm. In addition to these handy features, you can also read album reviews on popular sites such as All Music, Wikipedia, and Google Music.
Secure & Reliable network
Subsonic is quite secure and reliable. It has an assigned username and password which the users can use to access the platform. The moderator can determine the upload and download limits. With LDAP and Active Directory you can even integrate authentication. You don't have to worry about sharing your data or any other information which these modern apps exploit these days. Using the HTTPS/SSL encryption, you can choose the ultimate protection.
Ultimate Media Monk
Subsonic is a media streaming service that streams to your Sonos and Chromecast devices. You can download podcasts, thanks to the integrated podcast receiver. You can manage your radio stations and Internet TV, and can even play your media on DLNA/UPnP devices. Using the jukebox mode, you can play music directly on the server's audio hardware.
How to access Subsonic?
To access Subsonic, you can search for the term "Subsonic" on your computer. You might find the website at the top of the search results or you can click on the screenshot of Subsonic on the left to get there instantly.
Design
Subsonic's media server website has a very intriguing logo. from the banner on the homepage to the body of the page, it looks like it was put together well. The font is clean and simple, and the white background with black text looks great. It's interesting to see how everything is interconnected - from the menu options at the top to the blog posts on the left-hand side. It's great to see a website that pays attention to detail.
Header
The header section on the website has a logo on the left and a variety of options on the right. These include ?Home?, ?Premium?, ?Apps?, ?Sonos?, ?Demo?, ?Help?, and ?API?. I really love the header blending into the hero section with a festival image in the background.
Hero Section
This headline reads ?Get your free month of Subsonic.?
The hero section has a dynamic banner with a headline and two buttons. The headline reads "Subsonic - Your complete, personal media streamer?" Under that, you can find two CTA buttons - "Download?" and "Learn More?". At the lower end, you can also find a headline from an integrated banner in the body section. This headline reads "Get your free month of Subsonic."
Body
In the ?How does it work? section, you will find a concise paragraph on how to stream from your computer.
Starting from the top of the body section, there is a banner consisting of a family watching TV together. Above the image, you have the headline "Stream from your own computer. Your media - your terms." Underneath this banner, you have two sections - "Packed with features?" and "Don't leave home without it?". Under the first banner, you have a sentence which reads "See all features?" as the CTA while under the second banner you have a sentence which reads "See all Apps?" as the CTA. Scrolling further, you will find a ?How does it work? section followed by an CTA banner with a blue background. In the ?How does it work? section, you will find a concise paragraph on how to stream from your computer.
Footer
The footer section on the website just has one navigation button and that is for support. I'm disappointed with this section and you have to scroll all the way to the top if you want to access the inner pages.
Inner Pages
Most of the pages on the website are text-laden, and you can learn about features, setting up the device, and other important information on these pages. You can download the software, learn about the apps, and even test Demos using one of these pages.
Subsonic Interface
The best thing about Subsonic is that you can get a demo using demo.subsonic.org. This website will give you a fair idea about what to expect on the network. The homepage has a drop-down menu on the left followed by seven options - Home, Index, Playing, Starred, Playlists, and Podcasts on the right. You can even use the search bar on the extreme right to find suitable content. You can sort the content based on factors such as ?Random?, ?Recently Added?, ?Starred?, ?Top Rated?, ?Most Played?, and ?Recently Played?.
Plans & Pricing
As for plans and pricing, you have three plans to choose from - Recurring, One-time Payment, and Lifetime Subscription. Under the Recurring Payment plan, you have to pay $1/per month (you can cancel at any time). Under the One-time Payment plan, you can get the premium subscription for 1-8 years calculated at $1/month. Under the Lifetime Subscription plan, you have to pay $99 and you can access the platform at any time without paying a dollar.
Suggestions I have for Subsonic
Subsonic is an excellent platform, but there are many areas where it needs to be improved in order to be more compatible and adjustable for streaming. Given its extremely affordable price, I'm sure it will attract a lot of users once the issues have been fixed.
Conclusion
Despite its great subsonic compatibility, it is not the best media player for today's time. In fact, it is only compatible with 25 devices, whereas the compatibility we have today is much greater. Additionally, the premium version does not have any subtitle support and cannot be adjusted to improve quality. As a result, while it has many benefits, it also has some drawbacks.
