They acquired Sundance on May 7, 2008, for a reported $496 million. It was not all bad, though- on the contrary, this acquisition also came with the introduction of original programming on the Sundance Channel.
The Sundance Channel announced on January 27, 2014 that it would be known officially as Sundance TV and shifted its efforts more towards the digital. On February 1, 2014, the change became official. In 2014, Sundance TV had a lot of success with its original programming.
Sundance TV released its fourth original miniseries (The Honourable Woman) and its second original scripted series (The Red Road). Additionally, 2014 saw the Sundance Channel introduce its first two reality series (Loredana and ESQ) while also bringing back new seasons of The Writer's Room, Rectify, and The Returned.
