History and description

The stadium was awarded to the Fire in 2006 and they moved into the stadium in 2007. In 2006, Toyota Park was between the Chicago Fire and their future home of SeatGeek Stadium. In 2007, the Chicago Fire moved into SeatGeek Stadium and it has been their home ever since. The Bridgeview revitalization project was attracted to the village of Bridgeview by the promise of increased investment and prosperity, but this strategy failed. The stadium came at a steep cost of $98 million, which hindered the revitalization efforts.

The stadium seats 20,000 people. The stadium hosted its first MLS Cup in 2007.

The stadium was renamed SeatGeek Stadium in 2018 following a new naming rights sponsorship deal.

In recent years, the Chicago Fire have not enjoyed a warm relationship with their stadium; located far away from central Chicago, the team agreed to terminate their lease with the stadium in order to move to Soldier Field, which is closer to the club's fan base.

SeatGeek Stadium is home to 24 executive suites and a permanent concert stage. It can hold up to 30,000 spectators.

On matchdays, a special shuttle bus connects the stadium with Midway CTA Orange Line station. Buses run every 20 minutes from two hours before the game and depart 30 minutes after the game. Take the train to Midway station from Chicago's downtown loop. Midway is the last station on the orange line. The journey from Adams/Wabash station in downtown takes about 23 minutes.
