If you live in the Netherlands, I believe that you are already familiar with Ziggo. As the largest cable operator in the country, it would be hard to have not heard of Ziggo before. In fact, you probably grew up watching entertainment that was brought to you, courtesy of Ziggo. However, today, Ziggo is also one of the best TV streaming services on the web.
If you're from the Netherlands and are sick of Ziggo, before you swear off all things Ziggo for good, I recommend checking out their TV streaming site. Trust me, I don't think that you will regret it.
Not only is Ziggo one of the largest on-demand TV streaming sites I've ever seen, but it's also quite possibly the neatest and most user friendly. Believe it or not, it's not every day that I come across a TV streaming site with an elegant and well-organized way to browse vast catalogs of TV series and movies. Ziggo is, by far, one of the best TV streaming sites I've ever seen (and I've been reviewing streaming services for quite some time now).
There is no such thing as the best TV streaming site in the world, only the best site for you. So, then, is Ziggo the best streaming site for you? Well, there are a few things to consider before making that decision: First of all, what kind of content do you enjoy watching? Are you looking for channels that offer a wide variety of programming options? Or are you more interested in sites that specialize in certain genres or types of programming? Second, what do you think Ziggo's price point is worth? Is it a good value for the amount of content and features offered? And finally, is Ziggo an accurate reflection of your specific interests and needs as a TV consumer? If you can answer yes to all three questions, then Ziggo may be the right streaming site for you. However, if any one of those factors falls short then it may not be worth your time or money to switch over. So take everything into account before settling on a final decision.
So without further ado, let's take an in-depth, comprehensive look at one of the most popular streaming sites in all of Europe- Ziggo Go. Let's put the TV streaming service Ziggo Go to the test today, shall we?
History
Ziggo was founded as a cable company in 2008 through a merger between Multikabel, @Home, and Casema. The company went on to merge with another company in 2015 (UPC Nederland), and as a result the name stayed the same. Ziggo is currently the 2nd largest cable provider in the Netherlands.
Until 2012, Ziggo's capital was held by two private equity firms. It wasn't until March 21st of 2012 that Ziggo became a publicly traded company, listed on the NYSE Euronext stock exchange. Interested parties can buy and sell stock in Ziggo, but shareholders can also trade options on Ziggo shares.
In 2013, Liberty Global acquired 12.65% of Ziggo. This percentage increased to 15% in April and 28.5% in July, steadily increasing their ownership until they went in for the kill on January 14, 2014, announcing that it would be acquiring all of the remaining shares of Ziggo for a whopping ? 10 billion. In November of the same year, upon European Union investigations, Liberty Global became the sole owner of Ziggo.
Ziggo Go underwent a rebrand on November 9, 2016, and became known as Ziggo Go. The service was initially introduced by UPC in 2012 as Horizon Go.
Since HBO 1, 2, and 3 went off the air in the Netherlands on December 31st, 2016, Ziggo Go has been the number one way for Dutch people to enjoy all of their favorite HBO original content. But it is not just HBO shows that have caused Ziggo Go to become one of the most popular TV streaming sites in Holland. This site has proven itself, time and time again, to concern itself with nothing but quality and convenience. Let's look a little more closely at the site and I will show you exactly what I mean.
Ziggo Go is a TV streaming site that has been popular in Holland since 2016 because it offers quality programming along with convenience. Many Dutch people turn to Ziggo Go to watch their favorite HBO shows because they know that they will be getting a high-quality experience from this website.
Design
Ziggo Go has an incredible site design. In fact, I may even go as far as to say that it has the best design from any on-demand and live TV streaming website I have seen thus far. The site is perfectly organized, dynamic, user-friendly, intuitive, smooth, and responsive. It has just about everything I look for in a TV streaming site - design wise.
Ziggo Go's innovative site design is practical and novel for a TV streaming site. Almost every other site I review employs the same old, expected layout. Ziggo Go has managed to think outside the box, and it does not come at the expense of user intuitiveness or experience. In fact, I would say that Ziggo Go is even more user friendly than Netflix.
Ziggo Go's menu is firmly rooted in the left margin of the page and spans across all content types, making it easy to browse content by type. This is a convenient and easily accessible route to your settings and watch list. Simply click on Home, TV & Replay, Movies & Series, Saved, or Settings from the menu. From there, watch the rest of the page transform around your selection. Ziggo Go's organizational structure is intuitive and makes it easy to find what you're looking for. I wish every premium TV and movie streaming site had a strong organizational structure like this.
Content and Features
Ziggo Go is an excellent TV streaming site with superior content quality compared to other Dutch TV streaming sites and other streaming services around the world.
HBO Max does not have the same selection of content as Ziggo Go.
Ziggo Go members can now choose between watching content on-demand or live, and Ziggo Go also has a "save" function which allows you to easily save TV episodes or movies to watch lists. When you return to Ziggo Go, the TV shows and movies are already waiting for you to stream.
Mobile and Desktop Experience
Ziggo Go is one of the best TV streaming sites on the web because its desktop site and its array of apps are both intuitive and smooth. The app for iOS, Android, ChromeCast, and Apple TV are all equally smooth, so cross-platform availability will be of no concern.
